EasyJet has announced an increase of 29% of passenger numbers during March with a significant reduction in the number of seats left vacant. The company reported that Easter had had a positive impact on the figures - but expansion in EasyJet's European operation had also helped.

Sabre, which owns Travelocity and TD Travel Group, has acquired a vertical travel search engine called IgoUgo.com which allows travellers to share their holiday experiences with other potential holidaymakers.

Dramatic internet home use statistic is good news for travel
Statistics just published by Nielsen//NetRatings show a surge in UK internet use during February 2005 of over 11% to 24.8 million active home users of the web. The increase is compared with November and can only be described as dramatic - although Christmas web purchasing was much later last year.

Most popular destination for Germans is Spain once more
The Axel Springer study "Tourismus 2005" has found that the most popular destination for Germans is Spain once more. Interestingly, one of the factors driving this change is German low cost airlines and early booking discounts. In 2003, thanks to economic conditions for many Germans, the most popular holiday was 'staying at home' - in other words holidaying domestically within Germany.
